History/Background

Started back in 1999, Hard Music and Sounds United (H.M.S.U) is nowadays the biggest drum and bass formation in Bulgaria . H.M.S.U has always been behind the most spectacular and well-attended events on the Bulgarian drum and bass scene.

In 2005 H.M.S.U. presented to the audience the first Drum’N’Jazz event, whose unique format offered to both drum and bass and jazz fans an unforgettable music experience.Special performing guests in the first edition were Stoyan Yankoulov/BG/, Elitza Todorova/BG/ and Future Prophecies /Norway/. 

The second edition of Drum'n'Jazz in 2006 welcomed the world famous Teodosii Spassov /BG/ and Ez Rollers feat Messy MC /UK/. These two series of Drum’N’Jazz turned the event into a unique experience for all advanced music lovers, being an experimental, yet real entertainment. There is hardly a person who, upon visiting one of the Drum’n’Jazz events has not become a faithful fan of this one-of-a-kind show in Bulgaria. 

H.M.S.U. presented the third edition of Drum ‘N’ Jazz in 2007 with special guests the legendary LTJ Bukem, the Canadian dubtech expert Deadbeat, and the acclaimed project VIARA with the famous Bulgarian musician Teodosii Spassov. The party took place at Party Center 4KM on November 23, 2007, and is still the most succesfull event ever held there. The organizers represented a program of more than  20 artists in three different halls with conceptual music and visuals. Official sponsor of the event was BTC ADSL.

In 2008, H.M.S.U. again demonstrated an avanguard combination of headline acts. The special guest at the fourth edition of Drum'N'Jazz was no other than the world famous Amon Tobin, appreciated by many fans as undoubtedly one of the most significant names in the electronic and experimental scene. Another headliner was a rock music veteran - the master of the guitar Vlatko Stefanovski, who presented his music together with Teodosii Spasov. Another special attendant was the UK host of BBC Radio 1 - DJ Fabio.

In 2009, the fifth edition of Drum’n’Jazz took place in club Escape, Sofia. The crowd waspleased with vanguard music and fresh jazzy vibes. The event’s growing dimensions wereconfirmed by the numerous guests, who participated: world-renowned pioneer Calibre,Jungle Drummer feat. DJ Fu, who presented an extraordinary mix of DJ set and live drumming together with MC Script, local artists Milenita and Бalkansky with similarlyremarkable performances, as well as the artists from the H.M.S.U. crew.

The expectations of the fans of quality music were fufilled for the sixth time by Drum'n'Jazz in 2010 with the performaces of the renowned Netsky and JazzSteppa. The resident artists also displayed class - Balkansky, Oratnitza, Tubifex and Milenita together with H.M.S.U. Crew made the experience even more memorable. The party took place in the 4KM Party Center where the athmospere was reinforced by thematic decorations.
